Characteristics

Perennials with decumbent or rarely scrambling branches 0.1-0.2(-0.4) m long, herbaceous, carnose or slightly woody, with or without adventious roots. Leaves rarely with a petiole to 4 mm long; lamina lanceolate, elliptic to broadly obovate, (4-)6-20(-35) x (1-)2-4(-15) mm, subulate to obtuse, dorsiventrally compressed to terete, glabrous or hairy, green, yellowish green to brown. Inflorescence a thyrse varying from a number of few-flowered cymules to solitary flowers or with flowers fascicled at apex. Calyx: lobes linear-oblanceolate to linear-triangular, 2-3 mm long, fleshy, green to brown. Corolla cup-shaped, scarcely fused basally, white often tinged red; lobes elliptic-oblong, 2.5-4 mm long, acute or obtuse, recurved at apices. Stamens with black anthers. Squamae transversely oblong to square, 0.3-0.4 x 0.5-0.6 mm, truncate, slightly constricted downwards, fleshy, pale yellow to orange.
