Species

Angiosperms > Saxifragales > Crassulaceae > Crassula

Characteristics

Perennials rarely up to 0.15 m high when flowering, with one, rarely two or three rosettes with recurved and adpressed leaves so that rosette is hemispherical in section, with leaves spirally arranged and old ones remaining attached to stems. Leaves ovate, rarely elliptic, (10-)15-30(-50) x (8-)15-25(-30) mm, usually obtuse and mucronate, rarely acute, dorsiventrally flattened but often slightly grooved along main vein, glabrous except for marginal cilia, green, grey-green or brownish green. Inflorescence an elongate or spike-like thyrse with numerous flowers with or without pedicels, with distinct peduncle with short bracts. Calyx: lobes broadly triangular, 0.5-1 mm long, obtuse or rounded, with small marginal papillae to almost glabrous, fleshy, green. Corolla tubular, fused basally for c. 0.2 mm, white or cream; lobes oblong-oblanceolate, (2-)2.5-2.8 mm, acute or obtuse, first erect later more or less recurved. Stamens with black anthers. Squamae transversely oblong, 0.2-0.4 x 0.5-0.8 mm, rarely slightly emarginate, scarcely constricted downwards, somewhat fleshy, yellow.
