Species

Angiosperms > Saxifragales > Crassulaceae > Crassula

Characteristics

Annuals, rarely perennials, with branches 20-250 mm long, erect, decumbent or floating in water, more or less branched, sometimes with underground branches. Leaves obovate, oblanceolate, rarely narrowly elliptic to oblong, 3-12 x 1-4 mm, obtuse to acute, dorsiventrally flattened, slightly fleshy but rarely convex below, glabrous, green. Inflorescence with terminal flowers in the axil of leaf-like bract due to sympodial growth. Calyx: lobes broadly triangular, 0.3-0.5 mm long. Corolla shallowly cup-shaped, scarcely fused at base, white sometimes tinged pink; lobes obovate to spathulate, 1.5-2 mm long, obtuse, often strongly recurved from about the middle. Stamens with yellow to purple anthers. Squamae oblong-cuneate, 0.4-0.6 x 0.1-0.2 mm, truncate to rounded, slightly and gradually constricted towards base, slightly fleshy, white or yellow and often tinged red.
More

Inflorescence with terminal flowers in axil of leaf-like bracts. Flowers with pedicels, 6-15 mm. Corolla shallowly cup-shaped, scarcely fused at base, white, tinged pink; petals 1-2 mm long recurved from middle, later reflexed; lobes obovate to spathulate, 1.5-2.0 mm long. Flowering time May-Nov. (winter rainfall areas), Oct.-Jan. (summer rainfall areas).
Delicate, usually aquatic annual, or rarely rhizomatous perennial, up to 20-250 mm tall, branches often floating in water. Leaves obovate to narrowly elliptic, dorsiventrally flattened, 3-12 x 1-4 mm, pale green. Flowers 1(-3) per leaf axil, mostly near branch tips, shallowly cup-shaped, petals 1-2 mm long, white.
Erect or floating annual, sometimes rhizomatous perennial, 2-25 cm. Leaves opposite, linear to obovate, upper floating leaves sometimes broader. Flowers 1-3 in upper axils, star-shaped, white or pinkish, petals 1.5-2.0 mm long, ovules 1 per carpel.
