Characteristics

Corolla c. 9 cm. long, glabrous, white with violet patches on each of three lower lobes, 2 yellow protruberances in throat, upper lip hooded, shortly bilobed.

Inflorescence scape 3–5(9) cm. long, pilose, flowers subsessile or with pedicels up to 8 mm. long, in dense apical raceme c. 1 cm. long, sometimes laxer.
Perennial, hairy herb with small rosettes of leaves; roots fibrous; stems very short, covered by fibres or persistent leaf nerves.
Leaves oblong-spathulate, 1.5–3(4.5) x 0.5–1 (2) cm., entire or undulate, denesly pilose on both sides, parallel 5-nerved.
Calyx 4–5 mm. long, in flower, 6 mm. in fruit, pilose especially on the nerves, shortly 5-toothed.
Ovary ovoid-cylindric, apiculate, little longer than the calyx, glabrous.
Bracts ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 4–8 mm. long.
