Characteristics

Stem solitary, erect, 6-25 cm tall, 1.5-3 mm in diam. at base, proximally glabrous, distally densely brown pilose. Basal leaves long petiolate; petiole 3-14 cm, glabrous, base narrowly sheathed; leaf blade reniform or orbicular-reniform, 0.5-4.5 × 0.9-5 cm, abaxially densely brown pilose, rarely glabrescent, adaxially glabrous, palmately veined, margin irregularly shallowly crenate, rarely lobed, apex rounded. Middle to distal stem leaves 1 or 2, petiolate or sessile, smaller, with leaf blade or not. Capitulum solitary, nodding. Involucre hemispheric or rarely campanulate, 0.7-1.5 × 1-2 cm, outside densely brown pilose or sometimes glabrescent; phyllaries 8-12, in 2 rows, apex acuminate, mucronate; outer phyllaries narrowly lanceolate; inner phyllaries oblong-lanceolate, margin broadly membranous. Ray florets yellow; lamina narrowly elliptic or oblong, 1-2 cm × 3-6 mm, apex acute, rarely acuminate, 3-denticulate. Tubular florets numerous, dark yellow, 5-7 mm; tube 1-2 mm. Achenes brown, oblong, 3-7 mm. Pappus white, as long as tubular corolla. Fl. and fr. Jul-Sep.
