Characteristics

Plant lacking pseudostem. Leaves few, basal, lorate, weak and spreading, 30-100 cm long, usually 3-6 cm wide; margin slightly rough. Inflorescence to 1 m long, with 4-14 but usually 6-10 flowers; bracts membranous to papery, to 10 cm long; pedicels absent or to 1.5 cm long. Flowers scented. Perianth tube 7-13 cm but usually 8-11 cm long; lobes elliptic to obovate, 5-8 cm long, 0.7-1.5 cm wide, mostly decurving, white. Stamens with filaments 3.5-6 cm long, maroon; anthers 6-12 mm long, slightly to strongly crescent-shaped, purple or black. Beak absent or to 1 cm long.
