Characteristics

Plant lacking pseudostem. Leaves few, lorate, basal, decumbent, to 40 cm long, usually 1-2 cm wide but sometimes to 4 cm; margin slightly rough. Inflorescence to c. 60 cm long, usually with 5-8 sessile flowers; bracts membranous, not pigmented, 4.5-7 cm long. Perianth tube 5-12 cm long; lobes elliptic to ovate, 4-8 cm long, 0.7-1.7 cm wide, spreading, white. Stamens with filaments 1-3 cm long, pink; anthers 0.4-0.8 mm long, straight to slightly crescent-shaped, colour not known. Beak absent.
