Characteristics

Leaves shortly petiolate, 1-foliolate; leaflets mostly 9–14.5 × 0.5–2 cm, linear to linear-lanceolate, attenuate, acute, but lower ones up to 7 × 3.5 cm, often lanceolate to elliptic, shorter and rounded at the apex, thinly appressed pubescent beneath; stipules 3–10 mm long, linear or subulate.

Standard subcircular, blue to violet, with a few hairs apically outside; wings oblong-obovate, exceeding the keel; keel, (8)9–11 mm long, strongly rounded, with a crest behind the small beak and an oblique spur from the leading edge.
Pod including the 0.5–1 cm long stipe 3–4.2 cm long, subcylindrical, slightly broadened distally, shortly appressed pubescent, with numerous seeds.
Racemes very lax, rather few-flowered; bracts 2–4.5 mm long, linear to linear-lanceolate, bracteoles on the pedicel, filiform.
Erect annual, 15–50 cm tall, with long procumbent lower branches, pubescent with appressed slightly biramous hairs.
Calyx (9)11–12 mm long, appressed puberulous; lobes narrowly triangular-lanceolate, 2–3 times as long as the tube.
Seeds 4–5 mm long, obliquely oblong-cordiform, reticulately rugulose, brownish.
