Erect well-branched annual or short-lived perennial, up to 1·6 m. tall.. Branches covered with generally short fine appressed or slightly spreading hairs.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets oblanceolate to elliptic-oblong, up to 13–32 mm. long and 6–14 mm. wide, obtuse or rounded at the apex, glabrous above at least when mature, appressed puberulous beneath; petiole up to 8–25 mm. long.. Stipules absent.. Racemes subsessile or pedunculate, lax or with the flowers rather crowded towards the top, up to 15 cm. long, but often much less, many-flowered; bracts subulate, up to 2 mm. long, shorter than the pedicel; bracteoles inserted on the pedicel, small.. Calyx 4–6 mm. long, with the tube shortly protracted on the lower side, shortly appressed hairy; upper lobes narrowly attenuate-triangular, ± twice as long as the tube.. Standard obovate to suborbicular, shorter than the mature keel, yellow, marked orange-red outside, pubescent medially and apically outside; wings much shorter than the keel; keel bent at right-angles in the lower third, with a long narrow twisted beak, slightly incurved at the tip, 9–12 mm. long.. Pod subsessile, shortly cylindrical, 7–9 mm. long, 5 mm. across, pubescent, ± 5–8-seeded.. Mature seeds unknown.
