Crotalaria barnabassii Dinter ex Baker F.

Species

Angiosperms > Fabales > Fabaceae > Crotalaria

Characteristics

Erect laxly branched annual, (0.3-)1-2 m tall, with sparsely appressed puberulous and glabrescent branched. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets lanceolate to elliptic, mostly 3-6 x 0.8-2.8 cm, sparsely puberulous to subglabrous beneath; petiole usually a little shorter than leaflets. Stipules linear, 1-4 mm long, caducous. Racemes lax, short and few-flowered at first, but elongating and ultimately 10-35 cm long and many-flowered; bracts linear, 1.5-2.5 mm long; bracteoles small. Calyx 6-8 mm long, sparsely puberulous; lobes attenuate-triangular, longer than the tube. Standard elliptic-obovate to subcircular, pale yellow, fading orange, glabrous outside; wings 0.7-0.8 times as long as the keel; keel rounded a little below the middle with a slightly incurved acute beak, 1-1.4 cm long. Legume ellipsoid-clavate, abruptly contracted to the 9-13 mm long stipe, (2.5-)2.8-3.6 cm long, puberulous, glabrescent. Seeds subcircular in outline, thin, + 4.5-6 mm across, markedly rugose towards the margin, brown with darker speckling.
