Erect rather bushy annual or short-lived perennial, up to 1·3 m. tall.. Stem densely covered with appressed or slightly spreading white hairs.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets elliptic or obovate, up to 40–74 mm. long, 16–34 mm. wide, obtuse, rounded or retuse at the apex, subglabrous above, usually with small hairs only along the midvein, appressed pubescent beneath; petiole ± 15–25 mm. long.. Stipules subulate or filiform, up to 2–5 mm. long, rather persistent.. Racemes up to 15–30 cm. long, with many fairly closely arranged flowers; bracts linear or subulate, 1–3 mm. long; bracteoles inserted at the base of the calyx, subulate to oblong-triangular, up to 1·5–2 mm. long.. Calyx ± 5 mm. long, thinly appressed pubescent; lobes triangular, ± as long as the tube or shorter.. Standard suborbicular, clear yellow, turning reddish, particularly on the veins, glabrous or with a few small hairs medially towards the apex outside; wings a little longer than the keel; keel rounded about the middle, with a practically straight rather projecting untwisted beak, 10–12 mm. long.. Pod shortly stipitate, asymmetrically oblong-clavate, (20–)23–30 mm. long, 5–6 mm. across, densely pubescent, ± 12–16-seeded.. Seeds oblique-cordiform, ± 3 mm. long, smooth, brown.
