Characteristics

Erect annual, up to 6 dm. tall, simple or with few ascending branches mostly from near the base.. Stem slender, subappressed pubescent or shortly pilose.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets oblong-oblanceolate, up to 12–19 mm. long and 3–5 mm. wide, mostly rounded at the apex, subglabrous above, thinly appressed pilose beneath; petiole ± 2–4 mm. long.. Stipules absent.. Racemes sessile, dense, up to 7–15 cm. long, many-flowered, with other flowers clustered in the axils below; bracts linear, mostly longer than the rather short pedicels, up to 4 mm. long; bracteoles inserted on the pedicel, very small.. Calyx 4–5 mm. long, with the tube protracted on the lower side, densely covered with subappressed silvery hairs; upper lobes acuminately triangular, slightly curved, longer than the tube.. Standard elliptic-obovate, pale yellow, the outer surface veined and flushed reddish, silvery tomentose; wings a little shorter than the keel; keel bent at right-angles in the lower third, with a narrow practically straight twisted beak, 4·5–5·5 mm. long.. Pod sessile, subglobose-ovoid, 5–7 mm. long, 4–4·5 mm. across, appressed pubescent, ± 3–5-seeded.. Seeds suborbicular-cordiform, up to 2 mm. long, without a conspicuous aril, smooth, brown.
