Perennial, with numerous slender ascending, straggling or decumbent stems up to 4 dm. long.. Stems ribbed above, shortly covered with appressed hairs.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets oblanceolate, narrowly oblong-elliptic to obovate-elliptic, up to 12–24(–41) mm. long, 4–10 mm. wide, glabrous or rarely pubescent above, appressed puberulous beneath; petiole 2–10 mm. long.. Stipules minute and caducous or absent.. Racemes pedunculate, up to 4–11 cm. long, with ± 4–16 flowers generally rather closely arranged towards the top; bracts subulate or linear, 1–2 mm. long; bracteoles inserted at the base of the calyx, ± 1–2·5 mm. long.. Calyx ultimately truncate at the base and deflexed against the pedicel, 3–4(–4·5) mm. long, appressed puberulous or less commonly glabrous; lobes triangular, slightly acuminate, ± as long as the tube.. Standard suborbicular, yellow, veined brown, glabrous outside; wings shorter than the keel to nearly as long; keel rounded about the middle or below, with a projecting or incurved untwisted beak, (7–)8–9 mm. long.. Pod subsessile, narrowly cylindrical, up to 16–22 mm. long, 3–4.5 mm. across, thinly appressed puberulous to glabrous except for a few hairs along the upper suture, ± 12–18-seeded..
