Characteristics

Decumbent or ascending perennial, with generally velutinous stems 0.3-1 m long, occasionally whole plant glabrous. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets elliptic to obovate, rounded to refuse at the apex, cuneate to the base, 8-17 x 5-14 mm, usually densely puberulous at least beneath; petiole 3-13 mm long. Stipules attenuate-triangular, 1-2 mm long. Racemes ±5-25 cm long, laxly (6-)12-20(-30)-flowered; buds ascending; bracts linear-lanceolate, 1-1.5 mm long; bracteoles usually on the calyx, rarely below, 1 mm long. Calyx 4.5-6 mm long, usually appressed puberulous; upper lobes oblong, twice as long as the tube, abruptly contracted to an excentric apiculate tip, sometimes with longer white hairs on the margin inside. Standard broadly elliptic, yellow, finely lined reddish and usually pubescent outside; wings oblong-obovate, nearly as long as the keel; keel angular, with a narrow twisted beak, (7-)8-10 mm long, lanate along the upper suture. Legume subsessile, ellipsoid or ellipsoid-obovoid, 8-9 x 5-6 mm, pubescent, ±6-8-seeded. Mature seeds not seen.
