Characteristics

Much-branched procumbent annual, with radiating branches up to 4 dm. long.. Branches very slender, sparsely appressed puberulous, rapidlyglabrescent.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets linear-oblanceolate, up to 15–27 mm. long, 1–3 mm. wide, glabrous above, subglabrous to sparsely appressed puberulous beneath; petiole ± 3–8 mm. long.. Stipules linear, ± 0·5–1 mm. long.. Racemes very lax, up to 5–9 cm. long, with ± 6–12 flowers on the filiform slightly zigzag rhachis; bracts very shortly linear-lanceolate, ± 1 mm. long; bracteoles inserted on the pedicel, very small.. Calyx 3–4 mm. long, with the tube protracted on the lower side, glabrous or with a few minute scattered hairs; upper lobes narrowly triangular, nearly twice as long as the tube.. Standard obovate-orbicular, yellow, glabrous or almost so outside; wings nearly as long as the keel; keel bent at right-angles in the lower half, with a narrow twisted beak, 5–7 mm. long.. Pod shortly stipitate, shortly oblong-clavate, ± 12–18 mm. long, 4·5–7 mm. across, minutely puberulous, ± 12–16-seeded.. Seeds oblique-cordiform, up to 1·5–2 mm. long, rugulose, brown.
