Characteristics

Stems numerous, erect from a woody rootstock, 20-90 cm tall, forming small rounded bushes, appressed puberulous to tomentellous. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets oblanceolate to elliptic-oblanceolate, 1-3 x 0.3-1 cm, subglabrous or finely appressed puberulous to tomentellous beneath; petiole 0.4-1.5 cm long. Stipules linear-subulate, 1-3 mm long. Racemes mostly 5-16 cm long, subdensely 16-40(-60)-flowered; bracts linear to linear-lanceolate, 2-4(-5) mm long, persistent; bracteoles on the pedicel, 0.5-1 mm long. Calyx (4-)4.5-6 mm long, densely appressed puberulous, lanate along the lobe margins inside when young; upper lobes narrowly triangular, slightly acuminate, 1-2 times as long as the tube. Standard subcircular, bright yellow, pubescent outside at least medially, often extensively; wings ± as long as the keel; keel angular, with a narrow twisted beak, 0.7-1 cm long. Legume with a stipe 2-2.5 mm long, obliquely obovoid or oblong-obovoid, 0.7-1.3 x 0.4-0.7 cm, densely appressed puberulous, 4-6-seeded. Seeds oblique-cordiform, ±2.5 mm long, smooth, yellowish or brown.
