Characteristics

Bushy shrub, 1–3 m. tall.. Branches densely pubescent to tomentose with mostly slightly spreading hairs, ultimately glabrescent.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets lanceolate-elliptic to obovate, up to 30–53 mm. long, 8–24 mm. wide, glabrous above, pubescent beneath, rather conspicuously veined; petiole up to 15–22 mm. long.. Stipules linear to foliaceous with an elliptic-lanceolate to suborbicular blade 4–15 mm. long and 1–12 mm. wide.. Racemes terminal or leaf-opposed, pedunculate, lax, up to 6 cm. long, few-flowered; bracts linear, 3·5–7 mm. long; bracteoles inserted on the pedicel, 1·5–4 mm. long.. Calyx ± as long as the keel, 9–13 mm. long, thinly pubescent; lobes attenuate-triangular, ± twice as long as the tube.. Standard suborbicular, yellow, sometimes flushed dull purple, pubescent outside at least along the midvein and generally more extensively towards the apex; wings as long as the keel; keel semiorbicular, with a crest on the upper margin preceding the very short often slightly circumflexed beak, 11–14 mm. long.. Pod shortly stipitate, sub-cylindrical, 25–38 mm. long, 8–10 mm. across, densely spreading hairy outside, sometimes with a few hairs along the placenta inside, 10–14-seeded.. Seeds oblique-cordiform, ± 4 mm. long, obscurely papillose to smooth, brown.
