Characteristics

Erect or ascending annual, up to 3·5 dm. tall, branched from the base.. Stem slender, pubescent with short stiff whitish appressed hairs.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets linear-oblanceolate to oblanceolate, up to 5–12 mm. long and 2–3·5 mm. wide, glabrous above, rather densely appressed pubescent beneath; petiole up to 4 mm. long.. Stipules absent.. Racemes or heads subsessile, dense, up to 1·5 cm. long, ± 10–20-flowered; bracts linear, up to 3 mm. long, shorter than the pedicel; bracteoles inserted on the pedicel, very small.. Calyx 4–5 mm. long, with the tube protracted on the lower side, rather densely and shortly appressed pubescent; upper lobes narrowly attenuate-triangular, 2–3 times as long as the tube.. Standard elliptic-obovate, yellow to slightly orange, veined brown and puberulous at the apex outside; wings shorter than the keel; keel bent at right-angles in the lower third, with a narrow practically straight twisted beak, 6–7·5 mm. long.. Pod sessile, ellipsoid-oblong, up to 6 mm. long and 4 mm. across, appressed puberulous, ± 6–8-seeded.. Seeds suborbicular-cordiform, ±1·5 mm. long, without a prominent aril, smooth, ochre.
