Similar to C. florida, and with the same sweet smell when dry, but the vertical rootstock bright yellow inside, the stems velvety tomentose with obviously spreading hairs, the flowering branches variably developed but generally more contracted and generally no branches below the pseudopanicle, and the petals usually not marked reddish.
