Shrub, up to 3–5 m. tall, laxly and widely branched.. Branches shortly tomentellous, glabrescent.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets elliptic-lanceolate to elliptic-ovate, up to 5·5 cm. long, 2·3–3 cm. wide, slightly acuminate, glabrous above, rather densely subappressed puberulous or pubescent beneath, especially on the nerves; petiole ± 3·5–6·5 cm. long.. Stipules absent.. Racemes lax, up to 10–22 cm. long, many-flowered; bracts small, linear to lanceolate, caudate, 3–6 mm. long, caducous or rather persistent; bracteoles inserted on the pedicel, filiform, 3–5 mm. long, usually caducous.. Calyx 12–17 mm. long, basally narrowed into a prominent receptacle, glabrous outside, sometimes shortly and thinly lanate along the lobe-margins inside; upper and lateral lobes joined on either side almost to the tips.. Standard ovate, yellow, often marked purplish and glabrous outside; wings little more than half as long as the keel; keel strongly rounded with a well developed straight upwardly directed truncate untwisted beak, 25–30 mm. long.. Pod broadly oblong-clavate or ellipsoid-clavate, rather abruptly contracted into the 1·2–1·8 cm. long stipe, up to 7·5–9 cm. long, 2 cm. across, glabrous, many-seeded.. Seeds broadly oblique-cordiform to sub-reniform, ±6 mm. across, smooth, pale brown.
