Characteristics

Perennial, developing a slender rhizomatous rootstock, but flowering from first year of growth; stems erect, 25–70 cm tall, branching above, densely spreading pilose, the hairs 1–2 mm long and twisted when dry.

Standard broadly obovate, yellow, silky tomentose outside; wings and standard longer than the keel; keel subangular, with a twisted slightly incurved beak, 6–7.5 mm long.
Racemes sessile, short, dense, 12–30-flowered; bracts 5–7 mm long, lanceolate; bracteoles on the pedicel, setaceous to linear.
Calyx 5–6(7) mm long, silky tomentose; upper lobes broadly triangular, slightly acuminate, 1–1.5 times as long as the tube.
Pod sessile, 7 × 4 mm, oblong-ellipsoid, pilose, 6–10-seeded.
Seeds 1.5 mm long, oblique-cordiform, smooth.
