Characteristics

Bushy shrub 0.3-3 m tall; branches finely strigulose (youngest parts with short weaker slightly spreading hairs as well). Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets elliptic to obovate, mostly 1.5-4 x 0.8-2 cm, thinly appressed puberulous beneath; petiole 0.8-3.5 cm long, slender. Stipules linear-subulate, becoming recurved, 0.5-2 mm long. Racemes fairly closely 6-16-flowered; bracts subulate to linear-lanceolate, 1-2.5 mm long, spreading, subpersistent; bracteoles on the pedicel, setaceous. Calyx 1-1.3 cm long, appressed puberulous; lobes narrowly triangular, 1-2 times as long as the tube. Standard elliptic or elliptic-obovate, yellow, brownish marked with age, glabrous except sometimes along the midvein outside; wings nearly as long as the keel; keel abruptly rounded in the lower half, with a rather slender slightly incurved twisted beak, 1.5-1.8 cm long. Legume fatly ellipsoid, abruptly contracted to the 0.3-0.8 cm long stipe, 2.8-4.5 x 1.4-1.8 cm. Appressed pubescent, ±8-18-seeded. Seeds reniform, 6 mm long, granular, dark.
