Characteristics

Standard broadly elliptic, bright yellow, finely reddish lined, pubescent outside; wings only slightly broadened distally, nearly as long as the keel; keel 8–10 mm long, angular with a narrow twisted beak.

Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets 2–4.5 × 0.6–3 cm, usually elliptic, sometimes oblong-elliptic, appressed puberulous beneath; petiole 1.5–4 cm long; stipules 1–4 mm long, linear-subulate.
Calyx 4–5 mm long, appressed puberulous; lobes narrowly attenuate-triangular, 1.5–2 times as long as the tube, not conspicuously lanate along the lobe margins inside.
Racemes (5)10–25(35) cm long, ± laxly 16–40-flowered; buds ascending; bracts 1–3(3.5) mm long, linear-subulate; bracteoles on the calyx, 0.5–1 mm long.
Pod very shortly stipitate, 9–11(12) × 5–6 mm, ellipsoid to slightly oblong-obovoid, puberulous, 6–8(10)-seeded.
Annual, erect at first, then spreading, 0.4–1.5 m tall; branches appressed puberulous.
