Perennial herb, with several erect nearly glabrous slightly angular stems from a small woody rootstock, up to ±50 cm tall. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets mostly lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, 4-7 x 0.3-0.8 cm, the lower ones shorter and relatively broad, glabrous except for scattered hairs mostly on the midrib and margins beneath; petioles (except of uppermost and lowermost leaves) 1.5-2.5 cm long. Stipules linear-subulate, mostly spreading or recurved, 1.5-3 mm long. Racemes very laxly 8-16-flowered, 15-20 cm long; bracts subulate-lanceolate, 2-4 mm long; pedicels 8-12 mm long, with the small bracteoles inserted towards the apex. Calyx ±0.7-0.8 times as long as the keel, 6-7 mm long, appressed pubescent; lobes triangular, slightly acuminate, twice as long as the tube. Standard obovate-circular, yellow, glabrous except for a few hairs along the midvein outside; wings nearly as long as the keel; keel very strongly rounded a little below the middle, crested on the upper margin and with a small slightly incurved beak, 8-9 mm long. Very young legumes densely hairy; mature fruits and seeds not known.
