Characteristics

Shrub or bushy subshrub, 1-2 m tall, with hairy ± glabrescent branches. Leaves often with short axillary shoots bearing clusters of smaller leaves, 3-foliolate; leaflets usually small and obovate, but in var. galpinii varying from oblong-oblanceolate to elliptic-obovate, 7-20(-30) x 4-10 mm, usually glabrous above, puberulous beneath; petiole ±0.5-1.7 times as long as the leaflets.
