Perennial, much branched from base, with long straggling or decumbent patently pilose branches. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets variable, narrowly ovate to broadly obovate, mostly 1.2-3 x 0.8-1.8 cm, thinly pilose at least beneath; petioles mostly longer than leaflets. Stipules linear, linear-lanceolate or spathulate, 3-7(-10) mm long. Racemes with ±3-8 flowers rather closely arranged at top of the long peduncle; bracts subulate or linear-lanceolate, 3-5 mm long; bracteoles curved-ascending from top of pedicel, lanceolate, (2-)3-6 mm long. Calyx 1.1-1.3 cm long, sparsely pilose and often glabrous on the lobes except at margins; upper lobes oblong-lanceolate, 3-4 times as long as the tube. Standard subcircular or oblate, yellow, often flushed reddish outside, usually pilose at the apex outside; wings nearly as long as the keel; keel abruptly rounded below the middle, with a well-developed incurved beak, 9-11 mm long, lanate-pubescent along the upper margin. Legume fusiform-clavate, shortly stipitate, rather pointed, 3-4 cm long, thinly pilose. Seeds oblique-cordiform, ±3 mm long, rugulose, brown.
