Procumbent or usually weakly ascending annual or short-lived perennial, up to 3–7 dm. tall, laxly branched.. Stem thinly subappressed or spreading pilose.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets variable, with the lower ones elliptic to obovate, up to 24–36 mm. long, 16–23 mm. wide, and the upper ones lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, up to 50–72 mm. long and 14 mm. wide, glabrous above, thinly appressed pilose beneath; petiole up to 25–48 mm. long.. Stipules subulate-caudate to linear-caudate, 2–14 mm. long.. Racemes long and slenderly pedunculate, up to 15–40 cm. long, with numerous laxly arranged flowers; bracts subulate-caudate, slightly expanded at the base, 2–4 mm. long; bracteoles inserted at the base of the calyx or just below, linear or subulate, 1–2·5 mm. long.. Calyx 5–7 mm. long, glabrous to sparsely appressed pubescent; lobes narrowly acuminate-triangular, a little longer than the tube.. Standard obovate-elliptic, cream or yellow, veined reddish-purple, glabrous outside; wings shorter than the keel; keel strongly rounded about the middle, with a narrow sharp generally incurved beak, 9–11 mm. long.. Pod very shortly stipitate, subcylindrical, slightly broadened towards the apex, (20–)24–28 mm. long, 7–9 mm. across, glabrous to thinly and shortly subappressed puberulous, ± 30–40-seeded.. Young seeds cordiform, rugulose, brown; mature seeds unknown.
