Characteristics

Perennial, with numerous prostrate radiating stems up to 3–4·5 dm. long.. Stems laxly branched, rather slender, thinly and shortly appressed or spreading pubescent, glabrescent.. Leaves 1-foliolate; leaflets mostly lanceolate to elliptic, up to 38–60 mm. long and 8–25 mm. wide, glabrous above, sparsely appressed puberulous and glabrescent beneath; petiole ± 2–6 mm. long.. Stipules filiform or subulate, 1–4 mm. long.. Racemes slenderly pedunculate, up to 7–16 cm. long, with ± 4–12(–24) very laxly arranged flowers; bracts subulate-filiform, ± 1–2 mm. long; bracteoles inserted at the base of the calyx, similar to the bract.. Calyx 4–5 mm. long, appressed puberulous; lobes narrowly triangular, attenuate, a little longer than the tube.. Standard suborbicular-obovate, yellow, heavily veined reddish-brown, glabrous outside; wings a little shorter than the keel; keel strongly rounded below the middle and abruptly contracted into a fairly short but narrow incurved slightly circumflexed beak, up to 7–8 mm. long, yellow-green with dark veins.. Pod with a very short stipe, shortly cylindrical, abruptly contracted at either end, up to 10–11 mm. long, 5–7 mm. across, thick-walled and tardily dehiscent, rugose, glabrescent, ± 20-seeded.. Seeds oblique-cordiform, 1·8–2 mm, long, slightly rugulose, reddish-brown.
