Inconspicuous erect wiry annual, up to 2·5 dm. tall, sometimes much branched.. Stem very slender, glabrous.. Leaves subsessile, simple; blades mostly terete, with a median groove along the upper surface, sometimes linear-oblanceolate, up to 20–40 mm. long, less than 1 mm. wide, acute,glabrous.. Stipules filiform, ± 1 mm. long.. Racemes lax, ± 3–5 cm. long, with usually 1–3 flowers on the filiform rhachis; bracts minute; bracteoles inserted at the top of the pedicel, similar to the bract.. Calyx 1–5–2·5 mm. long, with a few appressed hairs; lobes triangular-acuminate, a little longer than the tube.. Standard elliptic, pale yellow, with a darker red-fringed mark at the base inside, finely brown veined and glabrous outside; wings bright yellow, much shorter than the keel; keel bent at right-angles in the lower third, with a long narrow distinctly recurved untwisted beak, 4·5–5·5 mm. long..
