Much-branched woody perennial herb 0·3–1·2 m. tall.. Branches tomen-tellous with short appressed silvery-white hairs.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets elliptic-obovate, mostly 3·5–6 cm. long, 2–3·5 cm. wide, glabrous or sparsely puberulous above, conspicuously appressed puberulous beneath; petioles mostly 3–6·5 cm. long.. Stipules absent.. Racemes shortly pedunculate, 8–22 cm. long, subdensely many-flowered; bracts linear, 1–1·5 mm. long, caducous before the flowers open; bracteoles at the base of calyx, minute.. Calyx becoming basally truncate and deflexed against the pedicel, 4·5–5·5 mm. long, densely covered with very short appressed hairs; lobes broadly triangular, slightly acuminate, shorter than the tube.. Standard broadly elliptic or obovate-elliptic, rich yellow inside, sometimes flushed crimson-brown outside, medially puberulous; wings nearly as long as the keel; keel rather shallowly rounded about the middle, with a narrow untwisted beak only slightly incurved at the tip, 1·2–1·4 cm. long, flushed crimson-brown.. Pod clavate-fusiform, narrowed to a 4–5 mm. long stipe, prolonged into a straight stylar beak, altogether 2·6–3 cm. long, 0·7–0·8 cm. across, pubescent, ± 22–28-seeded.. Mature seeds not seen.
