Procumbent or ascending much-branched annual or perennial, up to 1 m. tall.. Stem rather densely spreading pilose.. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets variable, with the lower ones ovate-lanceolate to elliptic or obovate, up to 35–60 mm. long, 20–42 mm. wide, the upper ones narrower, narrowly oblong-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, glabrous above, thinly subappressed pilose beneath; petiole up to 25–50 mm. long.. Stipules subulate to linear-caudate, up to 6–14 mm. long.. Racemes long-pedunculate, up to 20–60 cm. long, with many flowers usually rather crowded towards the top; bracts subulate-caudate, 3·5–7 mm. long; bracteoles inserted at the base of the calyx or just below, linear or subulate, ± 1·5–3 mm. long.. Calyx 4·5–5 mm. long, thinly pilose; lobes acuminately triangular, longer than the tube.. Standard broadly elliptic-obovate, cream or yellow, veined or sometimes suffused reddish-purple and glabrous outside; wings distinctly shorter than the keel; keel strongly rounded about the middle, with a narrow incurved beak, which may become irregularly twisted with age, 9–10 mm. long, very rarely a little shorter.. Pod very shortly stipitate, subcylindrical, a little broadened towards the apex, 20–24 mm. long, 5–7·5 mm. across, rather densely spreading pilose, ± 26–30-seeded.. Seeds oblique-cordiform, ± 3 mm. long, slightly rugulose, brown.
