Characteristics

Standard elliptic to subcircular, yellow veined and speckled reddish-brown, glabrous or nearly so; wings ± three quarters as long as the keel; keel 1.7–2 cm long, rounded about the middle, narrowed to the rather short bluntly pointed beak.

Leaves estipulate, simple or (1)3-foliolate; leaflets 3.5–9 × 1.5–5 cm, elliptic, subglabrous; petiole broadly grooved, often slightly winged, much shorter to a little longer than the leaflets.
Pod 4–7.5 cm long, ellipsoid-clavate, rather abruptly narrowed to the mostly 0.6–0.7 cm long stipe, pubescent, glabrescent except along sutures and near apex.
Calyx 1–1.3 cm long, glabrous or with few scattered hairs; lobes narrowly attenuate-triangular, ± twice as long as the tube.
Suffrutex with annual or perennial scarcely woody glaucous subglabrous stems erect from a well developed rootstock.
Racemes lax, many-flowered; bracts mostly 4–5 mm long, linear-subulate; bracteoles small.
