Characteristics

Subshrub to 1.5 m high. Indumentum silver. Branchlets with dense stellate trichomes, glabrescent. Stipules linear-lanceolate, 3–5 mm long, entire. Leaf lamina ovate to broadly ovate, 15–80 mm long, 10–80 mm wide; base cordate to truncate; margins crenate with 10–18 [inconsistent with key to spp. step 9:-Editor] teeth; tip obtuse to acute; venation palminerved with 3–5 veins from base and 6–8 lateral veins per side of midrib further up lamina, tertiary reticulate veins present; lower surface pale silver-green, lateral and reticulate venation prominent, with dense and ± persistent stellate trichomes; extrafloral nectaries often absent or obscure, if present then 1 or 2 at lamina base, ellipsoid, sessile, visible below only. Male flowers: pedicels 6–7 mm long; sepals lanceolate-ovate, 3–4 mm long; petals oblanceolate, 4–4.5 mm long; stamens 20. Styles 3, bifid once. Fruit trilobate, oblong-ovoid, 13–17 mm long, 10–13 mm diam., with dense sessile stellate trichomes.
