Characteristics

Shrub to 4 m high. Indumentum ferruginous to yellow. Branchlets with scattered stellate trichomes, glabrescent. Stipules linear, 0.7–2.5 mm long, entire. Leaf lamina elliptic, ovate or lanceolate-ovate, 40–170 mm long, 15–90 mm wide; base cuneate to rounded; margins crenate with 20–29 short teeth; tip acute to acuminate; venation penninerved with 11–13 lateral veins per side of midrib and indistinct tertiary reticulate veins; lower surface pale green, venation weakly developed, with scattered stellate trichomes; extrafloral nectaries 2, on petiole 0.4–1 mm below lamina base, ellipsoid, sessile or stipitate to 0.5 mm long, visible above and below. Male flowers: pedicels 2.2–4 mm long [inconsistent with key to spp. step 31:-Editor]; sepals ovate, 2–2.5 mm long; petals oblanceolate, 2–3 mm long; stamens 9–11. Styles 3, multifid, divided twice. Fruit trilobate, depressed-globose, 4.5–5 mm long, 6–7 mm diam., with scattered sessile stellate trichomes.
