Characteristics

Shrub to 5 m high. Indumentum silver. Branchlets with dense peltate scales. Stipules minute, triangular, c. 0.3 mm long, entire. Leaf lamina elliptic-ovate, 30–160 mm long, 12–60 mm wide; base cuneate to truncate; margins entire or weakly sinuate; tip acute to acuminate; venation penninerved with 7–11 lateral veins per side of midrib, tertiary reticulate veins obscure; lower surface pale grey-green, lateral veins weakly developed, with sparse to dense peltate scales; extrafloral nectaries 2, ellipsoid, stipitate to 0.6 mm long, visible above and below. Male flowers: pedicels 1.4–1.5 mm long; sepals lanceolate-ovate, 1.9–2 mm long; petals lanceolate-ovate, 1.4–1.5 mm long; stamens 10–12. Styles 3, bifid once. Fruit trilobate, subglobose, 6–7 mm long, 7–8 mm diam., with dense stalked stellate trichomes on mammillate protuberances.
