Characteristics

Shrub to 5 m high. Indumentum uncoloured to pale silver-yellow. Branchlets with dense peltate scales, glabrescent. Stipules subulate, 1.5–2 mm long, entire. Leaf lamina elliptic-ovate to obovate, 35–113 mm long, 16–63 mm wide; base rounded to very weakly cordate; margins slightly undulate, not toothed; tip acute to acuminate; venation penninerved with 8–10 lateral veins each side of midrib, tertiary veins obscure; lower surface silver-white, with prominent venation, with dense interlocking peltate scales; extrafloral nectaries 2 at base of lamina, ± sessile, oblong and often bilobed, 0.8–1 mm long, visible below only. Male flowers: pedicels 0.8–2.2 mm long; sepals lanceolate-ovate, 1.2–2.5 mm long; petals absent; stamens11 or 12. Female flowers: styles 3, multifid, once divided. Fruit trilobate, depressed-globose, 4–6 mm long, 7.5–8 mm diam., with sparse peltate and stellate trichomes.
