Characteristics

Shrub to 5 m high. Indumentum silver. Branchlets with dense overlapping peltate scales. Stipules obsolete. Leaf lamina elliptic, lanceolate-ovate to ovate, 12–100 mm long, 8–45 mm wide; base cuneate to obtuse; margins entire or somewhat sinuate; tip acute to acuminate; venation obscure [penninerved]; lower surface silver, with dense overlapping peltate scales; extrafloral nectaries 2 at top of petiole, circular, sessile, visible above only. Male flowers: pedicels 2.3–5 mm long; sepals lanceolate-triangular, 1.5–2.5 mm long; petals oblanceolate, 1.7–2.6 mm long; stamens 14–18. Styles 3, bifid once. Fruit trilobate, globose, 7–9 mm long, 5–8 mm diam., with dense sessile peltate scales.
