Characteristics

Shrub or small tree to 5 m tall. Indumentum uncoloured to silver. Branchlets with dense interlocking peltate scales, glabrescent. Stipules subulate, 6–8 mm long, entire. Leaf lamina elliptic ovate to obovate, 13–75 mm long, 4–26 mm wide; base cuneate; margins slightly undulate, not tooted; tip acute to acuminate; venation penninerved, with 5–7 lateral veins per side of midrib and tertiary veins obscure; lower surface fawn-silver, completely obscure with dense peltate scales, with venation scarcely visible or indistict; extraflora nectaries apparently absent, occasionally present and tubular, to c. 0.8 mm long. Male flowers: pedicels c. 1.5 mm long; sepals lanceolate-ovate, 1.4–1.5 mm long; petals lanceolate to weakly oblanceolate, 1.2–1.4 mm long; stamens 10 or 11. Female flowers: styles 3, multifid and divided once. Fruit trilobate, globose-ovoid, 7–mm long and wide, with dense overlocking peltate scales.
