Characteristics

Shrub to 5 m high; indumentum ginger to silver. Branchlets with dense stellate trichomes, glabrescent. Stipules subulate, 0.3–0.9 mm long, entire. Leaf lamina cuneate-obovate, elliptic or elliptic-ovate, 20–115 mm long, 12–60 mm wide; base weakly cordate, cuneate or truncate; margins denticulate to weakly crenate with 8–24 teeth; tip obtuse to rounded; venation penninerved with 7–9 lateral veins per side of midrib, tertiary reticulate veins obscure; lower surface silver, lateral veins weakly developed, with sparse to dense velutinous stellate trichomes; extrafloral nectaries 2 at lamina base, ellipsoid, sessile, visible only below. Male flowers: pedicels 2.5–7 mm long; sepals lanceolate-ovate to obovate, 3–3.5 mm long; petals obovate, 3–4 mm long; stamens 15. Styles 3, bifid once. Fruit trilobate, globose, c. 8 mm long and 8 mm diam., with dense stalked stellate trichomes.
