Characteristics

Shrub to 5 m high. Indumentum ferruginous-silver. Branchlets with dense stellate trichomes, glabrescent. Stipules linear, 2–3.9 mm long, entire. Leaf lamina narrow-elliptic to oblanceolate, 20–110 mm long, 10–35 mm wide; base cuneate to rounded; margins crenate with 16–32 teeth; tip acute to rounded; venation penninerved with 12–14 lateral veins per side of midrib and poorly developed tertiary reticulate veins; lower surface pale green, venation weakly developed, with scattered to sparse, stellate trichomes; extrafloral nectaries 2 at base of lamina, ellipsoid, sessile, visible mainly below. Male flowers: pedicels 2.2–2.6 mm long [inconsistent with key to spp. step 31-Editor]; sepals obovate, 2–2.3 mm long; petals oblanceolate, 2.3–2.5 mm long; stamens 10–12. Styles 3, bifid once. Fruit trilobate, globose, 4–5 mm long, 4–4.5 mm diam., with scattered sessile stellate trichomes.
