Characteristics

Shrub to 4 m high. Indumentum orange-brown. Branchlets with dense stellate trichomes. Stipules lanceolate, 3–6 mm long, entire. Leaf lamina ovate to elliptic, 12–80 mm long, 10–50 mm wide; base cordate; margins sinuate to denticulate with 8–30 teeth; tip acute to rounded; venation penninerved with 9–11 lateral veins per side of midrib, tertiary reticulate veins obscure; lower surface orange-brown, lateral veins weakly prominent, with dense, velutinous stellate trichomes; extrafloral nectaries 2 at lamina base, ellipsoid, sessile, visible below only. Male flowers: pedicels c. 3.5 mm long; sepals lanceolate-ovate, c. 1.8 mm long; petals oblanceolate, 2–2.2 mm long; stamens 11 or 12. Styles 3, bifid once. Fruit not seen.
