Characteristics

Small, erect herbs, stems appressed villose. Leaves lanceolate, upper ones sessile, lower ones unknown. Inflorescences subthyrsoidal cincinni, bracteate. Flowers numerous, stalked. Calyx 5-lobed (?), widely cylindric, lobes ovate, throat-scales 5 (?), semi-lunate. Stamens 5 (?), inserted in tube. Carpels 4, connate at base only to the style; style shortly claviform. Receptacle fiat, indistinct. Nutlets piano-compressed, shortly hairy with hooked hairs, horizontally spreading.
