Characteristics

Evergreen tree, 3-20 m high; young growth tawny hairy. Leaves chartaceous, elliptic, margins entire, wavy; dark green above, bluish below, glabrous; petioles ± 5 mm long. Inflorescences axillary cymes, paniculately arranged, tawny hairy, few-flowered. Flowers small, cream-coloured. Stamens 9, fertile, in 3 whorls; staminodes in whorl four. Flowering time Jan., Feb. Fruit globose, ± 12 mm in diam., enveloped by receptacle, reddish purple.
