Characteristics

Tree to 20 m high. Stem buttressed. Twigs usually fluted, pubescent. Leaves oblong, lanceolate, narrowly elliptic, tripliveined or penniveined, slightly glaucous and pubescent below; lamina 7–11 cm long, 2–4 cm wide; petiole 5–8 mm long. Inflorescence not exceeding leaves. Flowers cream-green, without perfume. Perianth tube 1.5–1.6 mm long, c. 0.6 mm wide, pubescent only towards apex. Outer tepals 1.9–2.1 mm long, 0.9–1.1 mm wide, inner tepals 1.8–2.1 mm long, c. 1.2 mm wide, pubescent. Outer anthers 0.4–0.8 mm long, 0.5–0.6 mm wide, glabrescent or few hairs abaxially; filaments 0.6–0.8 mm long. Inner anthers 0.7–0.9 mm long, 0.4–0.5 mm wide, glabrescent; filaments 0.5–0.65 mm long. Ovary 1.5–1.6 mm long, 0.5–0.6 mm wide, ovary and style glabrescent. Fruit ellipsoidal, 10–13 mm long, 8–9 mm wide, black, sometimes glaucous. Cotyledons cream.
