Cryptostylis leptochila F.Muell. ex Benth.

Leaves ovate, leathery, 80–120 × 25–40 mm, dark green above, dark purple beneath, on stalks 30–60 mm long. Flower stem 200–400 mm tall, 4–15-flowered. Flowers 15–20 × 4–5 mm. Sepals and petals greenish or yellowish. Dorsal sepal 13–20 × 0.8–1.2 mm, decurved. Lateral sepals 13–20 × 0.8–1.2 mm, widely divergent. Petals 6–9 × 0.6 mm, curved, spreading. Labellum abruptly recurved, 16–20 × 5 mm when flattened, dark red, softly hairy, margins inrolled. Callus a thick raised, longitudinal plate (often discontinous) flanked by irregular rows of shiny black domed calli. Column c. 4 × 3.5 mm.

Widespread and locally common in high rainfall regions; growing among shrubs in wetter forests in freely draining gravelly loam, sandy loam, and well-structured basaltic loam.
