Characteristics

Fruticulus vel frutex ramosus, fide collect, cr. 0.5-1 m altus. Rami patentes, in partibus iunioribus leviter araneosi-tomentosi, mox glabrescentes, usque ad capitula dense et aequaliter foliati internodiis cr. 1-1.5 mm longis, in partibus vetustioribus cortice fuliginoso obtecti. Folia sessilia, basi lata adnata, cr. 1 mm decurrentia, ovati-lanceolata, rigida, erecta et leviter incurvata, subimbricata, parte adnata inclusa 2.5-4(-4.5) mm longa, 1-1.5(-2) mm lata, apice in spinam 0.5-1 mm longam ut folium totum leviter incurvatam excurrentia, margine flava vel fulva cornea incrassate spinis cr. 0.5-1.5(-2) mm longis bifariam ciliata (spinae seriei deorsum ortae aliquantum breviores et densius dispositae quam eae seriei sursum ortae), imprimis subtus leviter floccosi-araneosa, glabrescentia. Capitula in apieibus ramorum solitaria, ligulis expansis cr. 2 cm diam. Involucrum ut folia leviter floccosi-araneosum; pars connata cupuliformis, 4-5 mm alta, 3-4 mm lata; squamae parietales 2-3(-4) mm longae, cr. 1 mm latae, ut folia formatae et spinis instruetae, in ea transgredientes; squamae terminales uniseriatae, ovati-lanceolatae, 4-6 mm longae, 1.5-2 mm latae, spinosi-acuminatae, margine non incrassatae, brevisaime denticulatae, extus minutissime setulosae. Achaenia laevia glaberrima.
