Characteristics

Fruticulus verisimiliter subdecumbens, ut videtur pauciramosus, altitudine mihi ignota. Rami diffusi, adscendentes, elongati, in partibus iunioribus araneosi-tomentosi, deinde glabrescentes, usque ad capitula dense et aequaliter foliati internodiis 1-2 mm longis. Folia sessilia, breviter (cr. 1-3 mm) et inconspicue decurrentia, lineari-subulata, rigida, reflexa (supremis sub capitulis leviter tantum recurvis exceptis) et caulem circumvallantia, leviter curvata vel interdum subrecta, (10-)15-20(-25) mm longa, (1-)1.5-2 mm lata, apice in spinam fulvam 1-2 mm longam excurrentia, marginibus revolutis, in lateribus utrinque 4-6 spinis ± in iugis dispositis ei in apice similibus solitariis uniseriatis 1-2 mm longis praeterea saepe apicem versus in margine ipsa singulis spinis brevioribus obsita, supra subglabra, subtus inter marginibus revolutis et nervo mediane leviter prominenti subglabro tomentosa. Capitula in apicibus ramorum solitaria, ligulis expansis 4-5 cm diam. Involucri pars connata cupuliformis, cr. 10 mm alta et lata, araneosi-tomentosa; squamae parietales densae et partem connatam fere totaliter obtegentes, 10-15 mm longae, leviter reeurvae, ut folia formatae et spinis instructae, in ea transgredientes; squamae terminales cr. 2-seriatae, cr.8-10 mm longae (intimae decrescentes), lanceolatae vel ovati-lanceolatae, 2-3(-4) mm latae, planae, spinosi-acuminatae, margine brevissime denticulatae, extus levissime tomentosae vel subglabrae, intus glabrae. Achaenia laevia glaberrima.
