Leaves opposite; blades elliptic or oblong-elliptic, up to ± 10 cm. long 6 cm. wide, narrowly rounded to acuminate at the apex, subcordate at the base, densely velvety on both surfaces with short ± spreading hairs; petioles short, up to 2 mm. long; stipules with ± triangular base 1.5 mm. long with linear-lanceolate apex 8–11 mm. long.. Flowers fairly numerous in pubescent branched dichasial cymes; peduncle 1–2 cm. long; secondary branches 0.3–1 cm. long; pedicels 1–3 mm. long; bracts leafy, oblong-subspathulate, 4–5 mm. long, 1–2 mm. wide, glabrous save for base and margins.. Calyx-tube 1 mm. long, densely spreading pubescent; lobes narrowly oblong-spathulate, 3–4 mm. long, 0.8–1.2 mm. wide, glabrous inside, ciliate at margins and pubescent outside.. Buds yellowish green, acute and shortly 5-tailed, finely rather sparsely spreading puberulous..
