Annual herb, up to 150 mm tall. Leaves not clasping stem. Spathes usually 2 at some or all nodes. Cymes borne at 1-3(4) nodes on shoot. Basal leaf cluster absent. Flowers violet, blue, pink or mauve.
In terminal and axillary clusters, in the top 1-4 axils of each stem; flowers open from 7-10 a.m
