Characteristics

Very similar to C. cinerea but its outer pappus is reduced to a low fringe-like rim consisting of short, distinct or ± confluent, oblong, rounded or subtruncate scales 0.1-0.2 mm long. It is also a somewhat more slender and delicate herb with a laxer synflorescence of smaller capitula.
